I was riding home on HerbieDer today, yell-singing the William Tell Overture in my helmet because we were going up a hill and Herbie needs a little boost to get up hills, when a guy on a sleek white sport bike came speeding downhill in the opposite direction. Rather than giving me a low peace sign like most cool-kid sporties do, he sat up and gave me a silly-wave like this. Whether he was humoring my ridiculous bike with googly eyes or whether he was giddy on his first ride on his beautiful bike, he made me giggle. The fellowship of riders is part of what makes riding so much fun every day. To know the feeling of the engine humming under you, to love the wind whipping around your helmet… What you ride is of no importance — two wheels, one love. I can’t wait to run into that guy on the road again.
